The worst and best draws for French clubs in the Champions League group stage
The Champions League group stage competition draw will take place this Thursday at 6 p.m. in Monaco. French team will find out whether luck is on their side or not.
Will French club be lucky todays ? The Champions League group stage competition draw takes place today this Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. in Monaco. Paris Saint-Germain, Lens, and Lille will then find out who their next eight opponents teams in the Champions League will be. We’ve imagined the best and worst possible draws for the Ligue 1 team.
First, these teams cannot play each other. And it is also not possible to challenge more than two teams from the same league during this stage. The 36 club that make up the league are divided into four group of nine teams each. PSG, Lens, and Lille will face two teams from each group.
Taking into account all these factors, the worst possible draw (on paper) for the French club would be: Bayern Munich, Arsenal (group 1), AS Roma, Aston Villa (group 2), Villarreal, Bodö/Glimt (group 3), Stuttgart and Como (group 4).
On the menu, there would therefore be the last Champions League finalist with Arsenal , Bayern Munich team to play a legendary semi-final last year against Paris , the winner of the Europa League 2026 with Aston Villa , or even Bodö/Glimt, surprise of the C1 2025-2026, who had reached the round of 16 after eliminating Inter club.
The most favorable draw for French clubs, at least on paper, would be Manchester City and Atlético de Madrid (group 1), Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven (group 2), Feyenoord and Shakhtar Donetsk (group 3), Sabah FC and Viking FK (group 4). As expected in the Champions League competition, the opponents teams are still high-level, but the overall draw seems less challenging.
