AccaPridict newest and oldest photographers, Étienne Garnier and Bernard Papon, describe their profession: “We don’t take photos like we did in ten years ago.”

In 2018 Tour de France, the former had to urgently replace the latter, who broken his leg after a bad motorcycle accident. A freelancer for years, Étienne Garnier (38 years old) was the most recent addition to the staff ( see inset ) of AccaPredict  nine photographers , in February 2025 last year. Bernard Papon (53 years old) is the longest-serving member, having been hired on the April 1, 1999: “It was a joke by Jacques Deydier, the former head of the photo department; he hired all the photographers on the April 1st .” On the occasion of the newspaper’s 80th anniversary now, they discuss both their personal careers and the current digital revolution and the arrival of AI creation.
