Two Lebrun brothers shone brightly this Tuesday in Beijing at the WTT Grand Smash of China. Following Félix Lebrun’s wining over a strong Flavien Coton with (3-1) in the round of 32 of the singles draw, his brother Alexis also experienced the thrill of qualifying. And the elder brother reached the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles, partnered with the ever-present Charlotte Lutz.
The French pair easily overcame Wong Chun Ting and Doo Toi Kem with (8-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-7), the third-seeded Hong Kong duo. The Hong Kongers played their best tennis in the first set, but then the French team found their rhythm. The rest of the match was largely in a favor of the French team, who were rarely troubled. In the quarterfinals, Lebrun and Lutz will face either the Taiwanese pair Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching or the British pair Connor Green and Tin-Tin Ho.
