Lucas Da Cunha’s pride after France’s win against Belgium: “A few years ago I was in the second division league, today I find myself here…”
After the narrow winning of the French team against Belgium team in the second day of the Nations League with (1-0), Lucas Da Cunha reflected on his good first appearance with Les Bleus.
Lucas Da Cunha, speaking to TF1 after France’s 1-0 wining over Belgium national team: “We played a good match, we conceded some chances, but in the end, with the pattern we played, I think we deserved to win the match. Michael’s goal relieved all of us, we’re very happy to have won the match. It was my first match, the coach gave me his full confidence, told me to do what I do at the club level, to play freely and help the team to win match. That’s what I tried to do and I had a good feeling, I felt good on the pitch, I’m very happy with my first match here.”
A first call-up is a big deal. It’s incredibly emotional, a huge joy. A few years ago I was in the second division level in (Serie B, with Como, before the club’s promotion to Serie A in the year 2024), and now I find myself here with the French national team, so it shows that when you work hard, when you don’t give up, things happen. Tonight, it happened and I’m very happy for myself and my team. My family isn’t here tonight, but I hope they’ll be here on Friday.
